James M. Becker, an associate at Lewis Glasser PLLC, focuses on commercial, corporate, finance, and transactional law.
Before practicing law, Mr. Becker worked in finance. He began his career in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York, where he rose to Senior Analyst in both the Global Industries Group and the Financial Institutions Group. While with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, he gained experience working on a variety of transactions for large corporations, hedge funds, and private equity firms. These transactions included public and private debt offerings, equity offerings, financial restructurings, hostile takeover defense, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.
After law school, Mr. Becker worked at The Huntington National Bank as a Commercial Portfolio Manager. In this role, he was responsible for underwriting, structuring, and managing the middle market commercial lending portfolio for Southern West Virginia.
A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Mr. Becker earned a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Political Science, with minors in Financial Economics and Corporate Strategy. Mr. Becker earned a J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. While in law school, he received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award (highest grade) in Business Organizations.
Mr. Becker is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
