Rebecca Summers is an associate and her practice focuses on real estate, coal, oil and natural gas. She has nearly 20 years of experience almost exclusively in residential and commercial real estate transactions, mineral titles, including coal, oil and natural gas, title issues, title insurance, foreclosures, conveyancing and subdivisions. She has conducted and provided oversight for thousands of title examinations throughout West Virginia and manages large volumes of work. Her practice includes the preparation of title opinions and drilling title opinions for surface, leasehold, coal, oil and gas estates for large and small energy producers, including those working in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays. She has represented banks, mortgage companies and individuals in real estate purchase and refinance transactions. She is experienced in identifying and curing title defects and has prepared title opinions, reports and division of interest for multi-county projects.
Ms. Summers received her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from West Virginia State College and a J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar; Energy and Mineral Law Foundation and Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. Ms. Summers is an approved attorney for First American Title Insurance Company and Old Republic National Title Insurance Company
